Bittersweet Farewell: Reflecting on My Final Week at the Fairbanks Library
This week was my last week at the library in Fairbanks. It was a very bittersweet end to my time here. I did not realize how difficult it would be to say goodbye to such a fantastic team. I wanted to do something special, so I wrote everyone I worked with a personal card and brought in bags of coffee and candy bars for everyone to share.
My colleagues surprised me with cupcakes and a tote bag full of foxes (their mascot!), which I thought was so sweet. It made me feel especially grateful to have had my internship with the branch manager, who taught me so much. I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to intern with them and learn in such a kind and supportive environment.
Cherishing Memories: Valuable Lessons and Friendships Gained During My Internship
As I reflect on my time in Fairbanks, I realize just how much I’ve learned and all the wonderful memories i've created. I will genuinely miss interning there, but I carry with me invaluable experiences and friendships. I'll never forget the wonderful people there who taught me how to shelve, pull, weed (find books that are not being checked out and get rid of them), use ILS systems, create outreaches, and so much more. I plan to visit them in my cap and gown to take pictures. Until then, thank you Fairbanks and goodbye.
